Yesterday I participated in The National Association of Women Business Owners, or NAWBO 2012 Fashion, Cars, & Stars networking event, and what an interesting event it was. For a majority of participants, their day started around 2pm continued late into the evening with a vast array of professional corporate themed exhibits, a marketplace, and the part I was most involved in, the Think Pink Fashion Show.
The event took place at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Detroit, and if you were unsure of the theme of the show, once you entered Club V you entered a world of glamour, pink, and corporate business :) My day at the event started with rehearsals and getting to meet the other models. To my surprise, the other models were actually all successful business women and business owners; strong, successful women living out their careers of choice, talk about impressive! Producer, Tee Thompson even had me give the girls runway advice, hehe!
Immediately after rehearsals, all the models were rushed into Paul Mitchell hair and makeup, all of the artists were cosmetology students and you could tell they were really having a blast. Then I was given my Saint John Style professional outfit to wear as my first look and we accessorized my black Jovani gown that I brought as my glam black outfit.

The fashion show was a really great time, and it was so interesting learning about all the interesting work all the other models do in their own careers. One thing I wasn't expecting, was the surprise celebrity host of the show! Actress and comedian, Kim Coles who is newly hired to host Oprah's OWN network's new game show, "Are You Normal, America?" She really had fun playing into my "Perfect" title and getting the audience into the show, as you can see from the video above she really wanted to learn how to do the "Traditional" Pageant Girl royalty wave.
Overall, this was a really great event, all of the people involved both behind the scenes as well as in attendance were truly amazing. I definitely enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of this event and am so appreciative of all of the amazing people I got to meet.
